wow submarines.

Went for a cruise around Yokosuka naval port today which was awesome as i have never actually seen submarines or warships before, most of the ships here are from the Japanese defense force but the Americans also have a number of ships here.

Christmas.

Hey all, how was christmas for everyone? well i had a good christmas i got a nice photo book of Japan from Kaori's parents and a flash new wallet from Kaori. As far as christmas day goes i spent the evening getting pretty drunk with Kaori's dad and brother while she had to work till after midnight, it made for a fun evening and we seemed to be communicating fairly well but i guess that could be down to the 1.8l bottle of sake i got her dad for christmas (which he almost finished!). I felt sorry for her brother tho as he had to leave at about 5.30 the next morning and it would take him about 2 hours by train to get to work from here.
The next day i was fairly (who am i kidding "REALLY") hungover and i didn't get up till around 11.30 but unbeknown to me her dad had taken the day off work to show me round a temple and a 11.5m buddha. So here he is.

Translation

"go go gadget wransrator" Some of the signs on our trip were funny as and some just made no sense at all. I'm glad there was no emergency while staying here as there was no Dawn in our room.

Long day

"got ya" I was just trying to move the sun across for a better shot.

So i have been up staying up so late recently that last night i thought i just wouldn't go to sleep and i will head up the hill behind us in the morning to see if i can see the sunrise from there. When i finally got up there the sky was clear except for cloud on the horizon so i was a little peeved off thinking that this was a bloody waste of time.
Just when i was thinking that out it came and it was fairly amazing to see just how fast it actually moves over the horizon if i had blinked i would have missed it. So in the end of it all it was worth the no sleep to see it.

Sapporo from the tv tower.
On our way to the train station in Asahidake.
This was the school hall in Toya where the volcano erupted. The roof is made of about 100mm concrete and you can see where the falling rocks have smashed straight though.
